CURRICULUM VITAE/RESUME

OVERVIEW

Early in her career, Denise started working with Lord Lew Grade, who created commercial television in the UK, as competition to Government led, the BBC. She went on to join Independent Television’s flagship company, Thames Television; then London Broadcasting Radio; and became the Editor-in-Chief of The London Dockland’s Business World magazine.

She is a fully qualified Reiki Master and Crystal Healer (Spiritual Therapist); and has a VERY positive attitude, which helps her overcome life's challenges. (Denise’s Father died when she was just 9 years old). Despite having multiple sclerosis, she is passionate to encourage anyone who suffers with an illness that, if they are able, to actually DO whatever it is they desire to achieve in life, and make it a reality as soon as is reasonably possible! This will motivate them to achieve, and in doing so, their problems will lessen.

Denise had three famous cousins, sadly now departed: Shakespearian Actor Warren Mitchell, most well known for his portrayal of Alf Garnett in hit TV show “Till Death Us Do Part” (known as “All in the Family” in the US); Ronnie Wolfe, who created and wrote the successful comedy TV shows “On the Buses” and “The Rag Trade” (among others); and Clive Wolfe, Director of the National Student Drama Festival; plus Denise’s late Mother, Eve Rayner, who was a published songwriter with Lawrence Wright Music. Denise is sure her strong drive to achieve success in anything she becomes involved with has been inherited from them.

February 2013 voluntary work to save a 3 year old boy suffering with cancer

In September, 2012, on a voluntary basis, Denise used her publicity skills to help Braiden Lee Prescott from Lancashire, UK who has Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Childhood Cancer. He needed to get to America before Christmas 2012 to receive immediate life-saving treatment only available there, but this cost £2,500 which his family didn't have. By Denise raising this in the press and on TV, Sir Richard Branson found out and arranged for Braiden and family to fly to the US and, now, the beautiful boy, Braiden, has had the much-need treatment. Search for “Braiden Lee Prescott” – on Facebook.

The Daily MailOnLine also covered this story. You can read this at: http://*********.***

NB Denise found out in October 2018 that Braiden Lee Prescott had passed away when he was turning just seven years old. Denise is still in touch with Steph, Braiden’s Mother!

Musical Shows for Disabled Children’s Charities

Besides being a member of the cast, Denise single-handedly created every show’s 40+ page A4 glossy Souvenir Programme for the Spotlighters Theatre Group - raising many thousands of pounds to pay for urgently needed life-saving equipment for disabled children's hospitals and charities.

When writing the Press Release for the Spotlighters' Production of "My Fair Lady", Denise was inspired by the fact that the show was returning to Drury Lane at the New London Theatre, because, in the 1950's, the show had its first run at The Drury Lane Theatre, Haymarket, London, where it starred Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. It was the longest show to run there for many years.

Denise's headline for the Spotlighters' production's Press Release ran as follows:

"My Fair Lady reigns again - not in Spain - but back in Drury Lane!" - referring to the hit song from the show - "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain". (By jove, I think she's got it!). And by jove - they definitely got it! Due to Denise's efforts, the Group's production was promoted freely on BBC, ITV, radio and all newspapers. Audiences flocked to buy tickets at the door. The standard of the production was first-class. The group were able to hire the original Cecil Beaton costumes which were in storage at Bermans and Nathans costumiers. Also, professional scenery, props and sound effects were provided by Thames TV, through Denise.

Theatre impresario Brian Rix heard about this production, requested a meeting with Denise to discuss the show's popularity, and then promptly organised a professional revival of the show - which then ran at London's Adelphi Theatre for two years. The shows Denise has been in and publicised are as follows:
