Specialist Locum Audiologist /Hearing Therapist
Private & NHS.
Working as a domiciliary audiologist in the private sector has enabled me to expand my experience in testing and fitting more advanced technology comprising the latest BTE, RIC and CIC devices from all primary manufacturers
in a patient's residential environment. I learnt to be increasingly responsive to the different needs of customers within the private sector to effectively meet KPIs.
- During this time, I also undertook courses in front-end web design and product management in order to enhance my
interest and skillset in these areas. I expanded my knowledge of the retail side of the industry and realised ways in which we can more effectively market and develop strategies to deliver a more effective product fit. I also took a
range of age-related health courses which gave me a deeper identification of concerns associated with ageing.
- Out-of-the box studying and an increased understanding of procedures across the industry has made it possible for me to apply more holistic perspectives at both the client experience and operational process level. This has
consequently allowed me to deliver of a more adaptive human-integrated and quality driven service.

NHS /Private across Dorset, South West & Midlands.
Working as a locum audiologist increased my flexibility to travel and work in a number of environments with varying systems in place. This has to date covered: Burton Hospitals NHSFT, Dorset Healthcare University NHSFT,
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHSFT, University Hospitals Bristol NHSFT, Specsavers, Bristol & Wye Valley NHST.
It educational to see how diverse demands of services are handled by organisations especially at times of change.
- I am comfortable in meeting the requirements of multiple client bases and frequently involved in working with those
who have more complex needs. Having gained increased experience operating a wide range of database
programmes, hearing instruments and diagnostic equipment, I have an amplified confidence in my ability to adapt to different hardware and software packages.
- Undertaking an MSc Advanced Audiology during this time widened my awareness of global health issues and augmented my clinical skillset in areas of advanced amplification & rehabilitation, counselling, tinnitus management
and vestibular rehabilitation. The course allowed me to explore other faculties including e-health, auditory implants, and neuroimaging and further enhanced my interest in service development and appreciation for the many
audiological protocols and procedures from around the world.

job
Advanced Audiologist
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
I was employed as a senior audiologist at various locations throughout Gloucestershire and was involved in conducting routine adult audiology clinics and paediatric testing: from new-borns to teenagers -in addition to
assisting in ABR and vestibular appointments.
- I participated in various service initiatives including stock checks and organised audits. As the Meeting Co-
ordinator, I also regularly assisted the department in organising key-speakers to attend meetings for educational and organisational purposes on a monthly basis. This involved corresponding between management, external speakers and arranging any technical support necessary.
- As a member of the Hearing Services training team, having completed a Facilitating Learning and Assessment in
Practice course, I enjoyed teaching and assessing students on the Audiology BSc and occasionally those with a medical background. I was involved in mentoring students through supervision in clinics, leading practice sessions for upcoming assessments and providing necessary literature to assist their studies.

job
Audiologist
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
After university, I worked as an audiologist as part of a small team focused on adult rehabilitation at Charing Cross
Hospital, St Mary Abbots Hearing Centre and domiciliary in Central London. Here I applied the clinical
understanding received from my training years to independent professional practice. My daily routine involved
carrying out the calibration of equipment and accurate audiological diagnostic tests in line with BSA protocols.
- I fitted a variety of hearing aids -comprising: Danalogic, Oticon, Phonak and Siemens ITE /BTE hearing
instruments. It was also necessary to handle patients with complex difficulties in auditory processing and profound
hearing loss and I obtained hands-on familiarity fitting specialised devices such as frequency compression and Bi/CROS aids. I worked closely with BSc students and conducted teaching and practical sessions to train hearing aid
audiologists undertaking the foundation degree on the importance and use of Real Ear Measurements (REMs).
- I learned to further refine my communication skills in order to empathetically convey information as simply and effectively as possible to patients and their families. I was required to connect on an ongoing basis with staff of
many disciplines including clerical staff, ENT, teachers of the deaf, general practitioners and other audiologists. This
often meant forming written reports for correspondence as necessary.
