I'm offering
Aziza Kadyri (Kadyrova) is a fashion and performance designer currently based in London, UK; her main interest lies in production design, which includes costume, scenography, lighting, projection mapping, and sound. In 2013, Aziza was granted the merit-based Chinese Government Full Scholarship, and currently holds a magna cum laude degree in Fashion and Textile Design from Tsinghua University. At present, Aziza is working towards her Master of Arts degree in Performance Design at Central Saint Martins, where she is exploring creative approaches within the interconnected contexts of experimental theatre practice, live art, and dramaturgy through design.
Between 2016 and 2018, Aziza took on the role of a designer and costume interpreter in multiple large-scale stage productions across Russia and China. Kadyri was significantly involved in productions at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, where she worked on Macbeth (2016) with Placido Domingo, Hamlet (2016), King Lear (2017) with Academy Award winner Emi Wada, and Lucia di Lammermoor (2017), a co-production with Mariinsky theatre.
Aziza collaborated extensively with artists for productions at the Bolshoi theatre (A Masked Ball, Anna Karenina, La Boheme, etc.), The Moscow Academic Musical Theatre of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko (Macbeth, 2018), Dmitry Krymov Laboratory (Romeo and Juliet, 2018), Maxim Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theatre (Fathers and Sons, 2018), and others.
Aziza’s latest projects include designs for a staging of Squaring the Circle by V. Kataev (2018), a sci-fi feature film Anna (release date TBA), and a collaborative performance project Tomorrow We Will Be Lighter Than Air, which served as an outcome of her artist residency at Reinbeckhallen, Berlin.
At the moment, Aziza is co-directing and designing The Oceanographer, a site-specific theatre piece depicting a man’s psychological landscape through oceanic imagery, and developing a semi-autobiographical one-woman show that reflects upon cultural identity and displaced culture. Both shows will premiere in 2019/20 in London.
