Responsibilities
• Demand Generation: Lead the demand generation and marketing communications functions to drive predictable and scalable pipeline generation and market awareness with highly effective campaign marketing strategies.
• Marketing Strategy: Reported directly into the Board, responsible for proposing, developing, testing and executing multi-channel acquisition programs (content, events, paid media, PR, organic, social etc) to drive growth through brand awareness, lead generation and customer retention.
• Sales Support: In charge of the creation and delivery of all commercial marketing assets and supporting collateral for the sales team to effectively sell events, products, services and brands - core pitches, commercial galleries, proposal templates, performance reporting, case study libraries, white papers
• CRM: Driving online audience acquisition, in charge of all online, email and direct marketing activities. IDG UK brands reach over 30 million unique users each month with 150,000 subscribers.
• Paid Marketing: Responsible for managing paid digital channels including search, social, display, affiliates and aggregators as well as managing digital and creative agencies.
• Content Marketing & Social: Develop content promotion plans across marketing channels (social networks, paid ads, content syndication, blog, display, web and email) across all brands.
• Events: With an annual slate of over 30 events, responsible for the complete P&L and budget management along with creating and implementing marketing strategies to drive attendance for all events.
• PR: In charge of all marketing communications, including Awards entries and PR strategies
• Thought Leadership & Research: Tasked with the fielding and analysis of quarterly marketing road show materials, including thought leadership programs, which are then packaged together for the sales team to take to market.
• Budget Control & P&L: Marketing budget £750,000 per annum.
• GDPR: IDG UK GDPR representative, making sure that all websites, data, registration processes and partners are GDPR compliant
• Lead and develop the Marketing Team: Leadership and management of 5 direct reports
Achievements:
• Set and exceeded ambitious growth marketing targets resulting in IDG UK becoming the most profitable business unit across 97 countries for the last 2 years
• Utilising the customer database and the internal teams I created and executed the Thought Leadership Research Program, contributing £500 000 to the business in the last 12 months.
• IDG UK events are currently performing at an all-time high contributing £2 million revenue this year. Responsible for the P&L I have driven this success. Over the past 12 months, attendee volume is up 10%, with 20% record revenue growth year-on-year.
• Working closely with the content teams to define and execute the SEO strategy IDG UK's website traffic has grown 400% in the last 18 months
• IDG UK's named AOP 2015 Publisher of the Year and The Content Team of the Year at the British Media Awards 2014.
• Social media presence across IDG UK brands has grown exponentially in size, reaching over 550,000 followers through Facebook and Twitter.
• Delivered the redevelopment of several of IDG UKs brand websites. Macworld, CIO and Techworld. Subsequently Macworld UK contributes over £2 million to our affiliate partners and was nominated for Website of the Year at the AOP Awards.
