INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
SITTING IN HR FUNCTION.
(HEAD OF FUNCTION), OLYMPUS UK+I (SITTING IN HR FUNCTION)
(Olympus UK+I is part of the wider Olympus brand - 1200 employees)
ROLE: Olympus is going through a period of significant change especially within HR and was finding it difficult to get employees on board with the changes as their diverse workforce meant that they had to tailor communications for each division. My role was created to work alongside HR to help employees understand the change through engaging campaigns and initiatives and also help drive the culture forward by creating an EVP both internally and externally.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Launched the performance review system across all divisions using workshops, toolkits, films and employee engagement event
• Monthly all hand meeting
• Annual events (summer and Christmas parties)
• Designed and implemented a creative learning campaign around the new L+D offering making sure it was accessible to all employees at all levels
• Creatively delivered key messages across central functions, for example functional announcements, project benefits, quarterly updates
• Worked with the senior leadership team to ensure authentic, transparent communications from the top down
• Implemented a 'Pride In What We Do' employee engagement program to create internal brand ambassadors
• Redesigned and launched the Reward and Recognition program by working closely with employee focus groups to bring them on the journey with us and ensure buy in from all areas
• Created our Diversity and Inclusion programme including mandatory training for all employees
• Lead the implementation of Olympus values programme by ensuring that our employees truly understood what each of our values meant, how they can uphold them and what a true role model looks like - this was achieved through a large scale employee engagement campaign and a recognition scheme
• Line managed HR support team (1 x EA, 1 x admin assistant) - objective setting, monthly reviews and comms planning for HR Director
