Since I graduated in 2013, I have been working for myself and small agencies (never bigger than 16 people). I was also always the only strategist at those places.
Although I used to see this as a constrain, it allowed me to grow and learn quickly, always keeping me on my toes. I was also able to do things that juniors never got the chance to do - Lead research, present to and workshop with clients. I also worked with clients directly to define next steps and objectives - at both agencies and for personal clients.
Being in small, agile teams also allowed me to touch different parts of projects. From account and project management all the way to design (I have a design background) and creative execution. From initial research and questioning the brief all the way to campaign and brand reports.
In every step of the creative and design process I was able to learn something new and these skills would then feed into the next step. I can direct, guide, create and measure any design project.
