I'm offering

Within the Projects and Events department at the National Theatre I worked as an Event and Production manager on a number of live events and exhibition installations. These projects allowed me to demonstrate that I have a flexible and adaptable approach to my work, that I communicate effectively within my team and with clients and that I am versatile and am able to work on both live events and installations. Within this position it was vital for me to successfully project manage the numerous different assignments that I was working on and to successfully meet the varying deadlines on each of them.

While at the National Theatre I was responsible for the development, planning and installation of the Playing with Scale exhibition in the Wolfson Gallery. This project involved a large number of external contractors, internal teams and creatives. I was responsible for the detailed and accurate curation of the schedules, budgets and management of the project. I also had to ensure that great care was taken in the presentation and display of a number of different archival objects and model boxes. This project demonstrated that I have the capacity and experience to manage a large installation of an exhibition, to effectively manage a team and have a practical and hands on approach to my work.

While working as Event Manager at the National Theatre on the summers River Stage, I have been able to demonstrate that I am a strong and confident Event Manager. I successfully led a team of stewarding, housekeeping and security staff to ensure the successful delivery of a safe environment and positive experience for River Stage audiences. I was responsible for the producing and maintaining of event information, and for communicating front of house event requirements across NT departments as necessary. I ensured the delivery of a high quality event that reflects and promotes the industry -leading standard of the National Theatre.

I worked closely with the Production Manager to manage and oversee stewarding, housekeeping and security booking, scheduling and operations. Taking direct responsibility for the front of house operational management of all performances including pre and post event briefings, maintenance of audience areas, creation and display of marketing and event safety signage, management of general public enquiries and maintenance and distribution of front of house radio communications.

As Event Manager I have been required to spend a vast amount of time creating schedules for both myself and my team as well as sticking to a tight budget while ensuring the highest levels of production are achieved. I pride myself in my ability to successfully manage conflicting priorities and deadlines in a calm and professional manner. I have a proven ability to take on roles and learn quickly while on the job and I make every concerted effort to learn from all of my experiences and take on all feedback in order to constantly learn and improve upon my skills.

In my work within Stage Management I am regularly presented with situations where different departments have conflicting priorities and equally restricting deadlines. I am able to calmly manage these situations in order to achieve the most successful outcome, by communicating effectively and making quick decisions about the priorities of each task. I was required to manage these conflicting priorities on many occasions while working as Company Stage Manager at the Wilderness Festival for Opera Holland Park. While working in an offsite venue I was required to ensure the cast and orchestras welfare and transport around the site, the requirements of the Director and the deadlines of the Producers.

As the Founder and Event Manager of the Dorset Plane Pull I have a large amount of experience in working alongside and managing different groups of individuals including colleagues, technical staff and volunteers. I have a proven ability to share information through clear and accurate documentation and presentations, as well as those supported by computer displays. I take great care in clearly communicating with a variety of different groups throughout our event and I am able to confidently share knowledge in a style that educates and excites, as well as informs and enthuses. I am confident in communicating effectively while working with event sponsors, stallholders and vendors. I pride myself in ensuring the highest levels of relationships are developed and maintained with
colleagues, volunteers and local organisations.

Whilst organising this event I am responsible for managing the welfare and schedule of our event volunteers. I take a great interest in encouraging their individuals skills and attributes, ensuring that both the event and the volunteer gets the best experience. I strongly believe in creating strong bonds between events, charities or businesses with their volunteer basis and I pride myself highly in creating those bonds through loyalty, clear communication and enthusiasm.

In developing the event of the Dorset Plane Pull I am constantly required to assist in the development of our marketing and social media profiles, I am confident in creating content to use on both our website and Facebook page to run alongside other media. I take a large role in developing our marketing plans for each annual event, this includes our press releases, event launch, programme design and sponsorship packages for local businesses.

While working within a Stage Management department, I have gained a vast amount of experience in communicating effectively with large groups of individuals. On a day to day basis I managed a variety of different departments, including performers, technical staff, child casts and music staff, this broad range of departments demonstrates that I have a flexible and adaptable approach to communication. I have also gained a wealth of experience in managing a number of different projects at once, as this has become a regular part of my career while working on performances of shows, managing rehearsals of other productions as well as organising the Dorset Plane Pull.

I have a large amount of experience in managing the health and safety of both myself, my colleagues and the large groups of people within the production. I am regularly required to write and distribute risk assessments for both productions and outdoor events, I have also recently completed my First Aid at Work qualification. While working within the entertainment industry and on the Dorset Plane Pull (DPP), I am continually responsible for managing a variety of different sized budgets. I am able to work within a strict budget and ensure that all deadlines and goals are met to the highest of standards. My experience in organising a non profit organisation means that I am acutely aware of the importance of careful budgeting.

I have detailed knowledge and experience in using both Microsoft and MAC applications. I am also proficient in creating spreadsheets and databases that I have used both regularly within my work in Events.

I have a huge passion for our environment and protecting it. In my spare time I take a great interest in conservation projects and I have organised and run a beach clean on Bournemouth Beach. I take this passion with me wherever I go and have been known to endlessly pick up rubbish off the beaches in Thailand and I make concerted efforts to research and learn about any new and exciting ways to be more sustainable.

I have a depth of knowledge and experience in running events, both indoors and outdoors. I am a highly motivated individual who works both well within a team and thrives on my own initiative whilst working as an individual and would relish the opportunity to be considered for the advertised position.
