As a photographer my sole discipline is documentary/reportage. I love to capture real people doing real things, reflecting their genuine energy either in a single image or a cohesive story. My role is to provide images that are both creative and informative.

To the un-initiated it can be a challenge - not only mastering the technical aspect in difficult lighting/weather conditions, but simultaneously being discreet, working safely and anticipating decisive moments; capturing key moments that perhaps won't be repeated. Not only that, I am fully aware that agendas and locations may change at short notice and the need to be flexible around that. Having many years experience in this field, I understand the need to have a smart approach to time management including working at short notice.

I am self-motivated, pro-active and work effectively and quickly either independently or as part of a wider team - always developing, managing and satisfying all stakeholders requirements for a cohesive and integrated media plan. I am used to, and enjoy, working under pressure. Whatever the assignment, big or small, my core approach is also to be as unobtrusive as possible so as to not impose myself on a sensitive situation and to enable the capture of natural, true-to-life images.

I am passionate about how my images can be used to convey stories and messages and I consider myself to have a well briefed world news sense and an understanding of the complex relationship and impact between different stories. The world is a complex place and solutions to problems are not always as clear-cut as they seem.

Over the course of my career I have enjoyed working with a broad spectrum of people and organisations both domestically and internationally, ranging from corporate and consumer brands to charities and not for profit organisations.

Clients include Microsoft, Rolls Royce, Hyundai, GlaxoSmithKline, Diageo, Facebook, Google, Cartier, Sony, Salesforce, Goldsmiths College, UK Government, Global Fund For Children, SportsAid, Elton John’s Aids Foundation, The Gates Foundation, Engineering UK and The Legatum Institute.

What connects all my clients is the need for effective and consistent imagery that connects them to their audiences via a combination of methods; press, agency/client marketing including editorial PR/web/social media platforms including paid for social media advertising campaigns. Work that I am also proud to say that I have been honoured to receive industry recognition by winning 3 EPA Photography Awards.

On a technical level I incorporate both Photo Mechanic and Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom into my fast and efficient workflow together with professional Canon cameras and lenses – including the new R series which allows me to shoot in completely silent mode when the environment demands it. I am also an accredited Adobe Lightroom trainer which has enabled me to help upskill colleagues within the industry.
