I'm offering
I'm a well-organised, deadline-driven developer. I value clear communication and honesty, especially when working remotely. Building this trust will allow for a successful project with a client.
I have over 7 years of experience working mainly with Laravel on the backend and either http://*******.** or http://*******.** on the frontend. Over those years, I've primarily worked on web applications some of which are used by companies such as Verizon Media, Yahoo, and Sainsbury's. In 2022, I had the opportunity to be a core member of the frontend team producing multiple digital promotions for McDonald's UK including the Monopoly promotion (Peel and Scan) played by millions in the UK.

Survey Creation Web Application
Browser London.
I was hired to join the development team at Browser London to help build
new advanced features on a medical survey platform created for their client.
In my time there I implemented Elastic Search (using Open Search on AWS)
and add a complex conditional logic flow to the survey, allowing the survey
builder to specify conditions for displaying questions based on attributes
about the user, current day or previous answers to a question.

job
Software Engineer
Wordnerds.ai.
Working at Wordnerds was a big leap in my career, I was exposed to a lot of wonderful technologies that I love using today, and had my first opportunity to tutor/mentor an apprentice alongside my work. My main role as Software
Engineer was Full-Stack covering deployment and Dev-Ops on Amazon's
Web Services on a deeper level than I'd been exposed to before. I worked on
the side of the SaaS platform mainly, working with VueJS and Laravel to maintain and implement new features.
I would often, for a few sprints at a time, switch to the Artificial
Intelligence/Machine Learning side of the Engineering team where I'd work
with Python/Flask and ML/AI Python Libraries to implement new features in Wordnerds' pride and joy Linguistic Analysis API, BigBird.

Software Engineer
Notify.me.
The Notify.me project has since been recognised and is being backed by
venture capitalists such as Benchmark and Ludlow VC.
My role in the project as Back-End Engineer was to maintain and implement
new features in the ExpressJS V1 API. When I had time I would also advise
and help with the V2 API which was being written in Go. We used a Linux
environment for our server administration and Google Cloud for our Cloud
Computing Services. Source control and DevOps were done using the tools
provided by GitLab. The project also required knowledge of some popular
browser automation tools like Selenium, this was used to grab metadata
about videos from Platforms that didn’t offer a public API.

Appointment Booking and Remind Application
Mednet Group.
The brief was to create a web application that would allow a chain of clinics in Ireland to get rid of their paper-based booking and manual reminder and confirmation appointment system. The application was very basic in the front-end, simple Vue.js SPA with a Calendar after login and a list of today’s appointments in a right column next to the calendar. Once an appointment is booked in the frontend, it sends a request to the backend built in Laravel 6 to store this appointment and notify the patient of this appointment. It uses the Twilio API for SMS notifications.

Janssen UK & Yale Uni Schizophrenic Study
Mednet Group.
As the only developer in the company I had a bit more independence in choosing what I believe to be the best tech for a project. While being here I created a system and application for Janssen UK who were conducting a study in Ghana, Africa. The study was to see how schizophrenics are affected by different variables. I built a Laravel web app to manage a calendar for patient appointments, assessments and an overall score for patients throughout the study. On top of this, I built a mobile application using native languages Kotlin/Java. The app used a RESTful API running on the Laravel web app instance. All deployed on AWS. If I was to redo the project today then I think it could benefit from not having a monolithic structure, decouple user management into a Laravel Lumen based User Service and so on.
