ABBIA Fine and Specialty cocoa is a cocoa supplier based in the United States which whom I started working to expand their customer base and create brand awareness. They are a supplier of fine cocoa beans with a
plantation in Cameroon and I work closely with the owner of the company to ensure the business runs well.
They have physical products, and this enables us to be able to send samples to potential buyers. In the short
period with ABBIA I have been able to sell the remaining 12ton they had in Chicago to a Dutch company (which they weren't able to sell in 1 year) and established partnerships with distributors and chocolatiers with an
estimated value of €970,000 for the next 2 years which is quite a large number for a start-up with 1 owner and
4 farmers. The fine and specialty cocoa is a slow market which requires a lot of patience, before your products
get to the market you would need to introduce your product, a tasting round will be conducted which can take
up-to 6 months pe customers or many years. Because of my perseverance and good follow-up, I was able to shorten that process with our partners and chocolatiers and even provided leads to these distributors.
I work closely with them to ensure we are all on the same page and the brand is being promoted correctly.
My main tasks within the company are:
• Setting up the CRM from scratch (HubSpot)
• Email marketing
• Cold calling companies, emailing and follow-up
• Send invoices to customers and aftersales
• Discussing strategies with the owner
• Organizing client meetings virtually as well as physically and leading these meetings
• Identifying buyers' profiles and negotiating prices.
