I have been working as a designer since graduating in graphic design and visual communication in 1998. With 30 years’ design industry experience, I’ve worked on a diverse range of projects for multinational businesses, SME’s, start-ups, charities and local councils – and picked up a few awards over the years too, with my work appearing in both Graphis and D&AD Annuals.

My very first job was as a magazine designer/assistant art director at Forward Publishing. I was at Forward for five years, working with writers, editors, photographers and illustrators on a range of contract publishing titles. A year at Sheppard Day followed before I joined Addison, designing annual reports and corporate communications while managing my own team of designers. Clients included United Utilities, Scottish Power, Powergen, 3i, Rolls Royce and The BBC. I left Addison in 1999 to relocate to Bath where I worked as design director at Mytton Williams and then in the same role at Northbank Design. Projects were varied and included branding, literature, editorial and digital design for a diverse range of clients across a variety of business sectors.

Since 2006, I have divided my time between working for my own clients (see http://******.***) and freelancing. Recently I’ve worked for Superunion, Salter Baxter, Design Portfolio, Carr Kamasa Design, Ruder Finn and AKA UK. Over the last 10 years I’ve regularly worked with ex Browns founding partner, Mike Turner. Together, Mike and I have worked on magazine projects, corporate reports, literature, branding, events and websites.

30 years on, I still get excited about the whole design process and have a passion for great ideas, beautiful typography and a well crafted aesthetic. I’ve written and delivered numerous presentations, proposals and strategy documents. I see projects through from concept and development to final artwork, including pre-press management. The majority of my projects are created in Adobe InDesign and can range from a business card to an annual report (including a complete back-end accounts section). I create logos, charts/graphs, maps, icons and infographics with meticulous attention to detail in Adobe Illustrator. I carry out image retouching work in Photoshop.
