• I led LNERs digital learning strategy which had three main elements:
Implementation and launch of LNERs digital Learning platform.
The use of Virtual Reality and Extended Reality to transform how LNER and the rail industry deliver classroom learning.
Embedding a Self-Directed learning strategy across our 3300 colleagues.
• I was responsible for the curation and design of digital learning content. This included procuring
online learning resources from partner suppliers and collaborating with external designers to create
eLearning content.
• During the Covid-19 lockdown I led a team to create and deliver online virtual classrooms for colleagues who had been stood down. We continued to use Microsoft Teams to host webinars where
LNER now have up to 250 people joining sessions.
• In 2020 I collaborated with the Customer Experience team to design an award-winning CX Managers,
Leadership programme (Gold award winner for Employee Training & Development - Empowering Programme, at the 2021 UK Employee Engagement awards).
• Mentoring - I was responsible for mentoring Kick Start Trainees providing support and training to
enable them to successfully apply for jobs when the traineeship ends. I was also involved with Women in Rail mentoring programme during the last 18 months this has all been held virtually using
Teams or Zoom.
• Virtual Reality and Extended Reality will radically change how LNER delivers safety critical training. In
collaboration with the Operations Training team, I designed VR learning content on Fire Safety,
Station Security, the most innovative session being a XR simulation of a train evacuation.
• LNER launched its Code of Ethical Compliance supported by learning resources with a focus on
increasing knowledge. This involved using a Test & Learn approach with a focus on upskilling
colleagues, Interactive video eLearning and Micro Learning Resources.
• As the owner of LNERs Learning Management System I was responsible for managing content, setting
up courses, reporting on data, the on-going development of the system and user administration.
• I provided Learning consultancy to internal SMEs across the business with a focus on Head Office
functions including finance and information technology.
