In 1993, two friends and I published a magazine for Sheffield University freshers and taught ourselves graphic design on a Mac Centris 650. Since then I did a masters in theatre arts at Goldsmiths, became an actor and a writer and a theatre director and all the while freelanced in various fields of design.
I laid out a brochure for Ten, a concierge company a school friend started around the turn of millennium then spent the next fifteen years or so as an ad hoc in-house resource. I designed websites, stationery and brochures for his clients and on behalf of his corporate partners — blue chips including Coutts, KPMG and Morgan Stanley. In 2010 I managed a complete re brand of the company (in conjunction with an agency and mentored by The Design Council through a scheme they were running). I also worked for other companies that became part of the Ten Group — an environmental service for the Mayor of London called Green Homes and an advice service for Head teachers and School Governors. I was then part of the de-merger of these companies and worked with them setting up new brands.
I have been purely freelance for the last few years and mostly work on presentation design for agencies big and small and inhouse for a variety of companies.
I still act — theatre and bits of film and TV plus a fair bit of voice-over. I flirted with sketch comedy for a while; love chatting about brand, marketing and design; have an on-off affair with Arsenal Football Club and live in North London with my wife and 2 daughters (aged 4 and 1).
I have also embraced middle age and love nothing more than a potter around the garden.
