I'm offering
I have been conjuring up content for over 18 years. I created printed catalogues, edited books, blogs, website descriptions, advertisements, and social media posts for some of the quirkiest products imaginable. I wrote and produced courses on creativity using magic, as well as starting a non-profit exhibition and gallery space in central London. I bring drive, strategy, experience, and a human approach to my work.

Content Manager/Editor/Curator
Davenports Magic Shop.
When I started to work for Davenports, the world's oldest family run magic shop, there had not been
much change since the day it started in 1898. I strove to preserve and celebrate the values and ethics, and bring the reach beyond the select few who frequented the business at the time. During my time I
edited our own range of books, produced video content, wrote our printed instructions as well as all the
advertising copy and social media content for the business. I also managed all the direct and e-mail
marketing strategies and implementation.
I curated our extensive collection of specialist antiquarian books, posters and artifacts, dating back to
1584. This collection was later displayed by the Wellcome Trust, as well as 'The Magic Kingdom'
museum in Norfolk.
I developed beginner magic courses for both adults and children, as well as developing a unique course
on creativity. I published a number of our own books, DVDs and pamphlets, both instructional and
historical. I used a combination of analytical tools and informal customer and staff communication to gage content performance and engagement.
I implemented a strategy that created a single, coherent and human company identity. I developed
working relationships with non-profit organisations as diverse as the Royal Photographic Society,
Metropolitan Police, Middlesex University and Streets of Growth. I also facilitated the use of our retail
space by the ground-breaking 'Changing Rooms' arts project for the 2012 London cultural Olympics, that
featured some of the artists who emerged from the then 'Arab spring'. I also organised the marketing
strategy for trade shows, visiting a diverse range of locations from Blackpool to Yokohama. I even
appeared in the occasional magic competition!
I have experience in presenting to camera, keeping dialogue succinct, understandable and interesting.
I have an excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Fresco, Lightroom, InDesign, Premier Pro and Photoshop as well as Google Analytics. I have extensive portrait/social documentary photography
experience, and the use of studio lighting with both film and digital. I am also proficient in Word and Excel. With Davenports, I used my previous software development experience to write e-commerce
plug-ins to integrate real-time stock control and ordering with our US supplier's web API. I developed a
working, maintainable and extendable solution using:
.Net Core - C# /MVC, Fluent Validation, Entity Framework core, LINQ / SQL, Razor/Html/CSS
